Who we are
Bridge Therapeutic Academy (BTA), a homeschool cooperative, is a collection of licensed behavior analysts, licensed special education teachers and parent volunteers, that exists for the purpose of providing evidence based therapies (ABA Therapy, Developmental Therapy, Medication Assisted Therapy, Parent Training in Positive Discipline) in conjunction with academic tutoring support in the areas of Reading, English, Social Studies, Math, Latin, Greek, and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living from licensed special educators for homeschoolers and their families based on Vygotskyian Learning Theory and the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Positive Behavior Support.

Bridging the behavioral health gap in education
BTA will provide dynamic and safe social skills groups, tutoring, ABA/OPT Therapy, and educational programs throughout the school year for children ages 24 months to 15 years of age. Preference will be given to our current school-based clients and those with the most severe behavioral needs. There are a limited number of slots and clients will be awarded a slot on a “first come, first served” basis.
Our target populations are learners who suffer with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and Emotional/Behavioral Disorders from ages 24 months to 15 years (years 1-4), 15 years to 22 years (year 5) along with their caregivers, providers, and educators who live in Franklin, Vance, Warren, Granville, Person, Durham & Orange Counties along with the border counties of Danville, VA.
We are actively engaged in this work as a part of our on-going efforts to enhance the quality of life of our learners and their families, raise awareness about Critical Disabilities Theory, Positive Behavior Support, Positive Discipline, and provide professional development and training for educators and school districts with a particular emphasis on persons of color, those living in rural areas & traditionally marginalized communities.
Bridge Therapeutic Academy will serve as a “bridge” and extension of The Bridge Consulting Group’s mission and vision which includes increasing access and disseminating quality, evidence-based resources and training. This “Lab Demonstration School” will serve as a prototype in the community for what education for children with ASD and PDD could and should be.
Parents, Providers, Community Partners, and Educators will be able to observe and learn about the latest innovations related to instruction for children on the spectrum in a small, supportive, inclusive environment that includes both the mental/behavioral support and quality academic instruction ASD/PDD sufferers require in order to reach their maximum potential and become full, contributing members of society.
It is our vision that within the next 2 years, BTA which will begin as a “homeschool”, will transition to a fully licensed Charter School with a dedicated physical site within the 5 County Region.
